In order to reach this long-term goal, we investigated the roles of different small molecules (nitric oxide, hydrogen peroxide, carbon monoxide et al.) in modulating plant response to saline, chilling and UV stress. We also adopted genetic, large-scale sequencing and proteomics strategies to reveal the underlying mechanism of plant response to various environmental stresses. Meanwhile, we collected the special plant under extreme environment stress as the materials, or set up the mutant pools in Arabidopsis and rice, to isolate the functional genes or proteins by map-based cloning, RNA-SEA or proteome approach, and further explore their potential contribution to agriculture by transgenic crop.
