During the last 5 years, our research group had systematically explored secondary metabolites and their bioactivities from 48 species of the genus Isodon and the Schisandraceae family. Among more than 2,000 compounds isolated and identified from them, about 710 new ones including some new skeletons or new types were discovered by our group. More than 20 ones were found to be promising in further development and application, and two of them, eriocalyxin B for anti-cancer and SJP-L-5 for anti-HIV, are carried out their pre-clinic research work. These research results not only promote the development of terpene chemistry, and also enriched the content of natural products in the world,especially these systematic and innovative results in the field of the genus Isodon and Schisandraceae family for their chemical constituents and bioactivities, which was one field in a leading position and significant achievements in modern phytochemistry for our Chinese researchers, and has brought some influence on the domestic and foreign field of natural product chemistry.

105 research publications (including 104 SCI papers) in top international and domestic journals have been published, and 9 patents have been authorized by domestic administrations in the last five years (2006-2010).
