BIOGRAPHICAL PROFILE

Dr. Ming-Hua Qiu (or Ming-hua Chiu) was born in Lijiang,Yunnan Province, China, in 1963. He received his B.Sc. degree (1984) in Physical Chemistry and his Ph.D. degree (1996) in Organic Chemistry from Peking University. After university, he joined the Phytochemistry Lab of the Kunming Institute of Botany, CAS. He participated in the University of Tokyo (1989), Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University (1998, 2000), and University of Illinois at Chicago (2003) as graduated student, post doctor and visiting scholar, respectively. A full Professor since 1997, he is the author of over 300 publications more than 200 SCI papers, the applicant of 62 national invention patents and the editor of 3 books. His research is focus on biologically active natural products from Buxaceae, Cucurbitaceae, Cimicifuga, Ganoderma sppcoffea and their utilization of plant resources, such as using seed oil of Jatropha curcas to produce biodiesel and pyrethrum to manufacture green pesticide.
